After 12 years of working in the Leisure Industry, fulfilling various roles including coaching, customer service and management, I decided it was time to change direction. Having played a number of musical instruments from a young age, playing in numerous bands in my 20’s, and a younger brother working successfully as a professional musician I decided to pursue a career in the creative industries.

In 2008, and, at the ripe old age of 31, I graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a First Class BA Hons. degree in Creative Music Technology & Sound Recording. Various freelance positions followed including working as a sound tech and crewing on numerous live music gigs across the UK and occasionally in to Europe. This was an exciting time and a valuable learning experience. Rubbing shoulders with stars in the industry, living away from home and sleeping on tour buses.  Other credits to my name around this time included working as a sound editor for an audio production house, editing content for various video games. I was also privileged enough to produce all of the audio content for an Xbox video game title, something I am still very proud of today.

In 2009 I secured my first full time position as a Sound Technician for corporate training provider Impact Universal. This role soon developed to include the use of visual content, predominantly video, and my role was then redefined as a Creative Media Technician.  It was within this role that I started to develop my video production skills, learning how to shoot, interview and edit whilst on the job.  Impact’s training content was always delivered by actors, using drama as their medium to communicate with their audience.  The experience gained within this role whilst working alongside professional actors has provided me with an excellent foundation to further pursue my career within the industry.

Fast forward to 2011, and after 2 years of employment within the corporate sector I felt I had outgrown my job role and needed to move on. I made the unnerving decision to return to freelance employment whilst tentatively taking the first steps of self-employment and starting a business.

I am now working regularly as a freelance videographer, producer, camera operator and editor.  My clients include local authority sectors, national health sectors, training providers, corporate event companies and local businesses.  Along with my technical and creative abilities I am regularly acknowledged for my ability to work effectively with anyone, anywhere. Always approachable, easy to communicate with and will never settle for anything other than a high standard of production.
